The Divine Mercy Chaplet is based on the private revelations received by St. Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun who lived in the 20th century. It centers on the mercy of Jesus Christ, particularly as represented by the image of the Divine Mercy, which depicts two rays of light (representing blood and water) flowing from Jesus’s heart.

The chaplet is prayed to obtain God’s mercy for oneself and others, to appease His wrath, and to save the souls of the dying.

Jesus made numerous promises to those who pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet, including the promise of unimaginable graces, the appeasement of God’s wrath, and the salvation of souls. These promises are particularly emphasized for those who pray for the dying. In essence, the Divine Mercy Chaplet is a powerful tool for seeking God’s mercy and experiencing its transformative effects in one’s life and the lives of others.
