Project Lift Up / Whakapiki ake

Kia ora to you all Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

To All: Parish Pastoral Workers, Ethnic Chaplaincies Workers, fellow members of the Diocesan Commissions, to all leaders

Here is the message of encouragement for us all coming from Bishop Pat and Bishop Michael, and the Management Team of the Catholic Diocese of Auckland.

It’s tough being in level 4 but seeing initiatives flourish across your parishes and chaplaincies, the Diocese is also lifted up so thanks to each of you for all that you are doing.  Bishop Pat’s reflections, the Cake Competition, the Fr Chris Skinner concert, the foodbanks that you do, and many other online initiatives have been enjoyed by thousands of people in this lockdown…and it’s not over yet….

The Diocese has some world class events coming up online that we are calling the next fortnight Project Lift Up / Whakapiki ake.  It’s an effort to give people a lift through prayer, speakers, music and faith filled online content. This is something on top of the good works that you are doing in your communities. So please join in with us and let us lift up our people from where they are at, and let us be engaged with those of us who are on “margin.” Please help us by sharing this uplifting Whakapiki ake events in your communities, being mindful that certain members of our communities find comfort, ease, and companionship in these trying times – these might be the thing for them. Update these information on your websites, your Facebook pages, Messengers, and emails, newsletters, and other social media platforms. Please share far and wide. Use the posters that we have shared with you above.

Just a few of the highlights are listed below but there is opportunities to connect and engage online most days. We can’t think of another time that the Diocese has been able to offer so many high-calibre international speakers. Our programme is being updated all the time at: https://www.aucklandcatholic.org.nz/home-2020-new-design/the-church-and-covid-level-4-2/#programme.
